Vitamin B6 deficiency causes, signs and symptoms:
As the vitamin B6 very rarely occurs due to its occurrence in most foods it is associated with bad absorption of nutrients, starvation, or taking certain drugs (including penicillamine, hydrazine and isoniazid).
Vitamin B6 deficiency early symptoms include problems with tissue regeneration which is the most visible in humans in skin regeneration and in eczema and seborrheic dermatitis.
Vitamin B6 deficiency has also strong influence on the human nervous system where it plays an important role and so with the lack of this vitamin people become more nervous and irritable. Moreover, vitamin B6 deficiency leads also to muscle weakness, insomnia and difficulty in walking.
In infants who were mistakenly deprived of vitamin B6 by feeding inadequate foods vitamin B6 deficiency led to seizures, failing to grow and irritability.
