Vitamin A deficiency treatment:
If vitamin A deficiency is detected at an early stage it is treated with vitamin A palmitate in oil 60,000 IU po once/day for 2 days.
Vitamin A deficiency is treated by getting injections of the vitamin, or by taking vitamin supplements. Retinyl acetate (66 mg) ot retinyl palmitate (110 mg) are given orally, or the retinyl palmitate (55 mg) is injected on two successive days. If the symptoms are not relieved the treatment is repeated once a few weeks later.
Pregnant women get different dosages of the vitamin so as not to damage to the fetus or infant.
